Chongqing, China – The world's first commercially operational 45MPa high-pressure underground hydrogen storage well station is now officially online at the Banshan Huandao integrated energy station. The facility has obtained a National Utility Model Patent and major technological equipment certification, marking a significant breakthrough in subsurface hydrogen storage technology.
The project has been featured by CCTV, Chongqing TV, and other media, reaching over 20 million viewers, and has become a benchmark in hydrogen infrastructure.
Demonstrating exceptional operational performance, the station has maintained safe and continuous operation for more than 1,500 days, cumulatively supplying over 400 tons of hydrogen. With a daily refueling capacity of one metric ton, it can service approximately 100 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles daily, providing critical infrastructure support for logistics and public transportation networks along the Chengdu-Chongqing "Hydrogen Corridor" and the New Western Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
"Refueling with 12 kg of hydrogen takes about 10 minutes and delivers roughly 550 kilometers of range," shared Mr. Hu Gang, a hydrogen logistics vehicle operator. "At 25 RMB per kilogram, the economics and convenience make compelling sense for commercial operations."
